We spent our first night in the new stack of bricks, and woke up feeling refreshed. I'm sure that the new place has great karma (or whatever mystical force you'd like to credit), but the real reason for my happy face and happy back is our brand-new, king-sized Tempur-Pedic mattress. All corporate lying aside, I have never slept on any surface that even comes close (including my beloved, ratty old hammock).

The little brown woman has developed something of an ice cream craving over the last few days, and we've spent some time (and money) at Bobbie's Dairy Dip each of the past 3 nights. Bobbie's is a "tastee-freeze-esque" roadside ice cream and burger stand, that has been in operation, off and on for over fifty years. They pride themselves on using 10% butterfat soft-serve recipe (most other sissified ice creams use less, apparently), and it is, without doubt, the best soft-serve this fat, hairy, white boy has ever shoved down his face. Tonight, however, I needed more than my sweet tooth satisfied, so while my wife ate a serving of ice cream as big as her head, I tried the "Bobbie Burger". At the risk of sounding like a spokesmodel, I am her to tell ya, that was the best burger in Nashville. If you ever find yourself hungry on Charlotte Pike (hmmmm, sounds like a music row song in the making), get thyself to Bobbie's....

As a fellow who isn't a fan of either of the major party U.S. presidential candidates, I found this video (apologies to Woody Guthrie) particularly amusing. Regardless of your political predilections, you will get at least a chuckle, or your money back.

Moving, in addition to being a huge pain in the ass, is an opportunity to evaluate yourself by examining the kipple you've accumulated. What you keep, what you discard, and the reasons why you do each will tell the introspective man much about himself.

A big semi-public thank you goes out to Hatch and Marissa for helping us haul our stuff to our new lair.

We hope to welcome many of you to our new home, especially Mike, Cassondra, and Stephanie, the only friends who braved the perils of overnighting in the most recent Clemmons hovel.

After a few months of laziness, I finally decided to figure out why none of my posts seemed to be showing up.   In order to save face, I'll not recite a litany of my computer ignorance, but finally, the blog seems to be up and running again.

My beloved wife is expecting.  I will post more details as they become available, but suffice it to say, I am happy beyond my ability to communicate.  Mahal na mahal kita, Ling.

Also occuring since last I typed, we've joined with the forces of "The Gate Tree" (a magnificent ruin), Carey the mad scientist, and others to bring you the Movie Skeptics Blog.  The basic premise is that people are stupid, and this inescapable fact enables/encourages Hollywood to crank out one mindless piece of garbage after another, making tons of money in the process.  Fortunately, there are still movies made that are more than passive entertainment, but still entertain.  Those are the movies we'll type about there.
